College Admissions Profiles

Schools deemed to be in a suburban setting are usually located somewhere between 15 minutes and 1 hour outside of a larger city. These schools offer the most in the way of a traditional college campus while still maintaining accessibility to outside cultural, shopping, and entertainment opportunities. Many students are attracted to suburban schools for their community environment and feel of a “traditional” college. These schools generally do not directly offer the wide-ranging off-campus activities that some urban schools deliver, but oftentimes make up for that lacking with on-campus programming. Examples of suburban campuses include Emory University, Boston College, and Duke University.
