University of Vermont Admissions Information

University of Vermont
Burlington, VT (map)

The University of Vermont is located in Burlington, VT, one of the most exciting small college towns in America. With the Green Mountains a mere 20-minute drive, Montreal 90 miles to the north, Lake Champlain just down the street from the college quadrangle, and the Adirondacks just across the lake, UVM is in the heart of scenic New England. Some of the country’s most travelled-to ski resorts are located within an hour of the school, and are a popular destination for snow-loving students. Burlington boasts 40 art galleries, 13 coffee shops, over 100 restaurants and bistros, beaches and parks, and night clubs, confirming its status as cultural epicenter. The myriad opportunities, inside and outdoors, to enjoy the town in which the University is located makes for an involved, fun-loving, and enthusiastic student body that is also connected to the greater community.

Back on campus, all first and second-year students live on campus in UVM’s 37 residence halls. Students have the option of choosing interest-based housing, with an academic, cultural, or arts focus. The University of Vermont has over 145 student organizations, teams, and honor societies. In combination with its 103 majors, no student is left without a place to indulge in his or her academic interests. Surrounded and taught by a faculty of which 90% have the highest degree in their field, students are instructed by some of the world’s academic leaders; in 2010, over $121 million of competitive research funding was won by the UVM faculty. Additionally, the University holds several titles, repeatedly earned for its commitment to environmental responsibility, innovation, and commitment.
