A Letter From Our CEO

Dear Parent -

Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams offer students an important opportunity to strengthen their college applications, and can even help put them on the fast track to a college degree by giving them a chance to earn college credit while still in high school.

While colleges do not require APs, these exams demonstrate a student’s proficiency in specific academic subject areas. They utilize a standardized test format similar to that of the SAT and ACT, though they are shorter in length and more focused on subject-specific content coverage. We offer tutoring in most subjects offered by the College Board, including Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Physics, and more. Students typically take these exams in May and receive their scores in July.

We are a national leader in AP Exam tutoring, and our success stems from three main factors:

  1. Personalization: Private tutoring is the single most efficient and effective way for students to learn. With a private AP tutor, your child will have the instructor’s undivided attention, and can work at a pace that is appropriate for his or her needs.

  2. Tutors: We have an exceptional team of instructors who have been carefully screened and then trained on how to customize our AP exam curricula to address each student’s strengths and weaknesses.

  3. Convenience: We understand that tutoring is just one part of your family’s calendar, and to make things work for our families, we’ve focused on private, in-home tutoring since our founding in 1999. Today, you have the option to have a tutor come right to your home, or to work with one of our highly experienced online tutors.

From here I encourage you to continue reading below to learn more about our AP exam tutoring. We're very good at what we do, and we would welcome the opportunity to work with your family.

Sincerely,

One-to-One Private AP Exam Prep

One-to-One Tutoring

Private tutoring, by definition, is Differentiated Instruction. A private AP Exam tutor can focus on your child’s specific strengths and weaknesses and move through content areas and strategies at a pace that is appropriate for your child. And since tutoring provides a safe environment for your child to ask questions and admit when he or she is confused, the instructor is well positioned to identify and address problem areas.

Personalized Program

Between the first and second meeting with your tutor, your child will take a Diagnostic AP Exam. This exam is reviewed in detail by your tutor. The tutor then uses these results to focus the program on your child's specific needs. As the program continues, your child will take one to two additional practice tests to ensure that he or she is progressing as expected.

Focused Curriculum & Homework

Homework is an essential component of test preparation. Simply put, the more you practice the better your scores. Your tutor will customize the curriculum to match your student's learning style and comfort level. By using the results of the diagnostic test and an additional practice test(s), your tutor will assign homework that ensures your child is appropriately challenged throughout the program and their specific needs are addressed.

How We Achieve
Our Industry-Leading Results

Targeted Curriculum

For AP exams, our in-house curriculum team researches the best materials for each exam, and provides highly targeted content.

Program Oversight

Your Program Manager will monitor your child's progress and, if necessary, work with you and your tutor to make adjustments.

Expert Tutors

We're extremely selective for both intellect and teaching ability when sourcing prospective tutors, and, unlike many companies, we provide comprehensive training.

Matching Process

We'll work with you to find the right tutor match: someone who can explain difficult concepts and motivate your child.

Practice with Real AP Exams

Practice and familiarity are essential to earning a stronger score, so we provide a diagnostic test and one additional practice test for each AP program.

Time on Task

Between the tutoring, homework, and practice tests your child will spend 15-20 hours learning and building confidence for test day.

You (and your family) are busy

To be effective, an educational program has to work with your family's schedule. We make life easier by bringing the tutoring to you through two convenient options:

In-home tutoring

Our flagship program, which we launched in the late 1990's, our in-home tutoring option provides you with the unparalleled convenience and personalized attention of a private AP tutor who will work with your child right at your kitchen table. All lessons are one-to-one, and your instructor will ensure that each session is highly focused on your child’s unique needs.

Online Tutoring

Instead of meeting at the kitchen table, your child and the tutor meet in a custom online learning environment. This innovative tool enables them to talk through strategies and complete practice problems, just as they would on a workbook at your kitchen table. Online AP Exam prep replicates the in-person tutoring dynamic, and it’s remarkably effective.
