Our Thoughts on the Importance of a Guarantee

This is something about which we feel very strongly here at StudyPoint, in part due to our distaste for how many other companies approach the topic of guarantees. For us this is about our core values: you're entrusting us with an important element of your child's education, and you're also making a significant investment of your family's time and money with us. We believe that trust and investment should be matched on our end, and in this light standing behind our test preparation programs with a significant guarantee is simply the right way to do business.

Unfortunately consumers need to be vigilant in our industry. We've seen some companies refer to guarantees as a gimmick, and some even go so far as to call a refund policy a "Guarantee" - as in, "If you don't like your tutor after the first lesson we'll refund the rest of your fee." Many others will offer some kind of additional support that actually costs them little or nothing to provide, like recorded videos of past classes or a seat in a class with 20 other students. A guarantee is a powerful tool for ensuring that you get good value from your investment in test preparation, so make sure to look into the details with any company you consider.

The bottom line is this: we have always believed that an education company should be willing to share their student results, and stand behind those results with a meaningful guarantee. We always have, and we know that is one of the primary reasons that more than 60% of our clients come from referrals and repeat families. If you hold up your end, we'll hold up ours and work to make sure your child leaves our program with a dramatically improved ACT or SAT score.

ACT Guarantee Details

If your child completes our Standard 30- or 60-Hour Tutoring Program and doesn't improve from his or her baseline score* (or a proctored practice test if you don't have an official baseline score) by the corresponding guaranteed point amount in the chart below, we'll provide you with an additional 18 hours of ACT tutoring for a subsequent exam for free.†

*Note: Whenever possible we prefer to use official test scores as the baseline score for your child's program. Toward this end, we use your child’s first official ACT score if he or she has already taken an official ACT. If your child has not taken the ACT, we use a parent-proctored ACT that your child can take at home under timed conditions.

SAT Guarantee Details

If your child completes our Standard 30- or 60-Hour Tutoring Program and doesn't improve from his or her junior year PSAT score (or a proctored practice test if you don't have a PSAT score) by the corresponding guaranteed point amount in the chart below, we'll provide you with an additional 18 hours of SAT tutoring for a subsequent exam for free.†

Eligibility for our ACT and SAT Guarantee

As you might expect, your child needs to uphold his or her end of the bargain to be eligible for the guarantee. Doing so is relatively straightforward, and entails the following elements:

1. Tutoring:

Student must complete all tutoring hours in his or her program with no gaps between lessons of more than 3 weeks.

2. Practice Tests:

Student must complete and submit scores for all ACT or SAT Practice Tests.

3. Homework:

Student must complete all assigned homework by the end of the program.

4. Test Date:

Student must take the ACT or SAT within three weeks of his/her final tutoring session.

5. Scores:

Student must submit his/her official baseline and final SAT/ACT scores.

† If the student would like to use the guaranteed hours, s/he must contact StudyPoint to verify guarantee eligibility within three months of the test date. Hours are guaranteed for the same type of test preparation and are not transferable to another type of program or to another student. The guaranteed tutoring hours must be completed within one year of the previous test date. Guarantee does not apply if the student is unable to take the PSAT, SAT, or ACT for any reason, including due to test date cancellations or postponements, test site closures, school cancellations, or other factors. No fees will be refunded due to inability to take the test. If the student is not planning or is unable to test again, the guaranteed hours are not refundable and do not have any cash value.
