About Practice Tests

We strongly believe that taking practice tests is one of the best ways to prepare for standardized testing. That’s why StudyPoint offers free, full-length, proctored SAT and ACT practice tests in a number of locations nationwide. Read on to learn more about the benefits of practice testing, and how you can sign up to take a test for free near you.

Why Take a Practice Test?

  1. Gain valuable testing experience. It is vital that students practice taking the entire SAT or ACT all at once under the time limit. This allows students to practice pivoting quickly from one subject to the next, apply the test-taking strategies they’ve learned, and get more comfortable with the material.
  2. Practice time management. Even if students may practice taking the test at home, it can be easy to go over the time a bit here and there. With a proctor in a real test setting, students will be able to see how they really perform under the time pressure of the exam.
  3. Test environments can be unpredictable - other students may fidget, or there may even be construction going on outside. Testing in a “real test setting” with others around can help students be better prepared for any surprises on the real test day.
  4. Taking a practice SAT or ACT can help students identify the best test for them. We always recommend that students try both exams before committing to one. Trying out the other test in a low-stakes setting can be a good way for students to identify the right test for them.
  5. Doing a "practice run" can help with test anxiety. If your student experiences anxiety around testing, it may be beneficial to practice taking the exam once or twice with lower stakes before going in for the real thing.
  6. In addition to these benefits, when your student takes a practice test with StudyPoint, we will provide you with a complimentary score report and complete evaluation. This tool will provide your student with valuable insights on his or her test-taking strengths and weaknesses. You can use the score report to guide future test preparation by identifying areas to focus on for improvement.
