Admissions Discussion Panel

In this panel discussion several college admissions experts speak to some of the most common questions parents have when navigating the admissions process. In addition, they share important insights and suggestions on how to make your application stand out.

This event brings together three experts on the college admissions process to discuss what colleges are actually looking for, and how they make their decisions. Specific questions and topics covered include:

  • What are colleges really looking for in an applicant?
  • Should you consider Early Action/Early Decision, and what is the difference?
  • What do parents need to know about financial aid and scholarships?
  • What are some tips for writing the college essay?
  • How, when, and where should you start the college search?
  • What are some of the common mistakes students make in the application process?
  • What should your plan be the summer and fall of senior year?
  • Schools we love.
  • Admissions resources we love.
  • Information on StudyPoint's Admissions Consulting programs.

The key to the success of this event was the strength of our panel. Between the three of them our speakers possess over 75 years of college admissions experience, including work as Admissions Officers and Deans at Duke and Cornell, and roles as College Counselors at prestigious boarding schools like Taft, Choate, and Andover. This group knows admissions inside and out, and shared some great advice and perspective on how to approach this sometimes overwhelming process.
