Albion Admissions Information

Albion College
Albion, MI (map)

Founded in 1835, Albion College has been a pioneer among the Midwestern colleges with a strong commitment to the liberal arts tradition. At Albion, classrooms are well-equipped and within tenured or tenure-track faculty members, all hold a Ph.D or equivalent in their field. Offering 31 academic majors and seven interdisciplinary concentrations, Albion has many educational choices for its students. Albion College awards two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts to most major fields and a Bachelor of Fine Arts to art and art history majors.

As a strictly undergraduate institution, Albion focuses on teaching students the value of service and community with centers that provide students with real-world experience. Among these include the Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service, the Institute for Business and Management, and the Center for Sustainability and the Environment–to name only a few. Because Albion does not have graduate students, all research opportunities and facilities are exclusively for the school’s undergraduates, with lots of support from faculty members.

Admissions Information

Albion College is a competitive school, and accepts well-qualified students. The admissions committee at Albion considers many factors when reviewing applications, ideally seeking well-rounded candidates. Albion looks for students with strong GPAs, respectable standardized test scores, and challenging high school records of AP and honors courses. However, Albion does not have any grade point cutoff. An applicant should also be sure to demonstrate interest in Albion, specifically by visiting campus, meeting with an admissions counselor and possibly meeting students and faculty. An applicant should provide the admissions committee with a balanced view of him or herself, and should be sure to include any distinguishing attributes in the application's personal essay. Albion has a rolling admissions policy for regular decision, but applicants are strongly advised to apply by March 1, which is the deadline for scholarship priority. The deadline for non-binding early action is December 1.
